SEMA 2024 has come and gone. It was a crazy ride as always. The automotive industry is changing everyday, whether or not it's for the better is a matter of opinion. There was a high amount of EV builds versus internal combustion. While I know it's the way of the future, I am not sure if it's one I am looking forward to. The number of builds that had attended SEMA in the past was also higher than expected. Of course, it is always cool to see cars you enjoy more than once, it is even better to see new and innovative ideas.

Nissan Skylines and Cyber Trucks were the two most common vehicle that I noticed around the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center. My favorite vehicle had to be this old Skyline in Central Hall at the DNA Motoring Booth.

DNA Motoring is a group of enthusiasts whos passion is to create and supply innovative new products to the automotive community. They specialize in lighting, cooling and truck categories. THey are one of the largest suppliers of automotive exhausts and lighting products. Check them out if you're in the market for new lighting and exhaust products.

Hoppos once again had two incredible builds in their booth.

Factory 5 had a gorgeous array of American power.

One vehicle in particular stood out. Factory 5 built a unique Daytona using a 2017 2nd Gen Ford Coyote. The original story of the Daytona began with an ambitious goal to win as a "contractor" with an American car at Le Mans. Shelby crafted the Daytona for maximum speed and Aerodynamics. The 1964 debut of the Daytona took the world by storm winning its class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans - the "Superbowl of Racing." It also had class wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona, The Italian Grand Prix at Monza, and the grueling 1,000-kilometer race at the Nüburring Nordschleife before reaching a record setting top speed of 187 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Factory 5 being inspired by the original story on March 3, 2024 beat the record set at Nürburgring by reaching a top speed of 188,8 mph on the 1/2 mile course at the Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Desert Center, CA.

It also included a 2.9L Supercharger, 970 HP on 98% Ethanol. What a machine.

Here's a few more walking around shots before the chaos of the first day began.

If you know me, you know if love Ford GT40s, specifically in that iconic Gulf Livery. Often people ask me what my dream car is, it's that. Superperformance often has a wide array of quality recreations, and of course the iconic Ford GT40 was one of them.

Tucked in the back of Central hall is Futuretech Studio. All EV and hybrid builds, old chassis and boats with electric engines and more.

The little Porsche certainly caught my attention. This 1986 Porsche "bb-Auto" Targa Hybrid blends heritage with cutting-edge tech. Under the hood lives an engineered Ed Pink Racing engine enhanced with Bonnen hybrid tech that delivers 550 horsepower. Vonnen tech provides rapid bursts of power to the engine and is much lighter and more compact than traditional EV batteries. To manage the heat coming off both the engine and battery, there are two cooling circuits with bumper-mounted heat exchanges. The exterior sports a nostalgic paint job reminiscent of its historic predecessor. A true labor of love.

That concluded day one of SEMA. So much to see in just a short amount of time! Tuesday brought about some killer reveals from Ringbrothers. A sea of people crowded for the three big reveals.

The first of three reveals was the 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda named "INFECTED" This vibrant colored mopar staple features extensive fabrication and carbon-fiber components combined with a modern dynamic and a 807 HP redeye engine. Every bit of INFECTED was built in house by Ringbrothers and took 5,600 hours. The wheelbase was extended and front fenders were shortened. Both the front and rear bumpers were narrowed and tucked in to further shape the 'Cuda into a newly defined more muscular bodyline. It also featured a custom diffuser and driveline tunnel floors.

INVADR is a 1987 Buick Grand National. It has a 1,246 horsepower engine, six speed manual transmission with twin turbocharged 3.8-liter V6. Like the others is all custom built and has touches that enhance the G-body's imposing form.

Finally came TUKA, the custom-built 1972 K5 Blazer. This project took more than 2700 hours and enhances the original line work of the Blazer. THe tailgate and box sides have been raised 2 inches to match the door height and create a more seamless profile. It has a fiberglass rear top that is hand built and integrates a panoramic roof from a modern day Blazer. It sports a 525-horsepower GM 6.2-liter LS3 V8 with 487 ft-lbs of torque. Practically every piece of TUKA is custom built.

Ringbrothers never disappoints with their fantastic builds.

Tuesday morning, I spent a lot of my time in the Toyo Treadpass. Handpicked builds are featured in this elite section each year and some have the privilege of being turned into a pin by Leen Customs. The builds speak for themselves, so let's take a look.

Some South Hall shots, classic F40s, Gulf Livery Mclarens, painted Cyber Trucks and all chrome impalas.

Optima Batteries had drift ride alongs all week, and I obviously had to go check it out.

The Las Vegas Convention Center is undergoing some construction, so there weren't as many vehicles outside as there had been in past years. But the ones that were there still brought the heat.

And of course, the vehicle I will never get tired of seeing.

The late Ken Block's Hoonipigasus by Hoonigan

It was bittersweet as the last day of SEMA rolled around. The week is always a hurricane of running around, meeting people, building connections, seeing all the insane builds and walking more than I will all year. The last day I checked out one of the coolest builds at the show.

San Diego-based restomod shop throtl has outdone themselves once again with their latest creation: a jaw-dropping R34 Skyline GT-R tribute to the iconic 2 Fast 2 Furious film.

This isn't just any replica; it's a fully functional drag car packing a serious punch. Powered by a 1,400 horsepower engine and equipped with a full four-wheel-drive system, this GT-R is capable of blistering-fast quarter-mile times.

The throtl team's meticulous attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the build, from the exterior styling to the high-performance engine. The car's striking appearance and incredible performance have made it a standout at this year's SEMA show.

SEMA 2024 is in the books and with it comes another year of craziness in the car scene. It's interesting to see where the automotive market will go and what it will look like next year. Even in the past three years I have been attending SEMA, it has changed drastically. Whether or not you like where it is going is up for debate.

Until next time.

Motor on.
